Parippu/ Moong Daal

This is a very simple daal with no spice and very popular with kids. It is part of Onam Sadya,  also it goes vey well with yoghurt and pickle. I do not normally use ghee but it is traditional to have it with ghee and probably it tastes better with it.
Ingredients:
Moong Dal-1 cup
Turmeric-1/4 tsp
Salt
Tadka- 2 tsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 2 cloves crushed garlic,a pinch of asafoetida(optional), whole red chillies(optional)
Method:
1. Roast the split green gram till nice aroma emanates.
2. Pressure cook the dal with 3 cups of water, salt and turmeric upto 2 whistle.
3. Add the seasoning of ghee and cumin, when it splutters add the crushed garlic and when its brownish, por it onto the dal.
Serve hot with rice with some ghee or melted butter on it.
