Yam Fry/ Chena Fry



I made this super easy side dish today since I had yam to prepare onam sadya. Yam fry is not a traditional side for onam sadya but it should be since it adds a completely different texture and taste.
Ingredients:
Yam- 2 cup, chopped in 0.5 cm thick 1"squares
Spices- a pinch of turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder
Curry leaves- few(optional)
Salt
Oil- 1 tbsp
Method:
1.Chop Yam in thin squares ,add the salt and spices.
2. In a shallow pan, take some oil, add curry leaves and when it sizzles add the spiced yam. Cook on low stirring intermittently for about 15 min till its crispy brown.
Serve it as a side with rice and dal/sambar.
